During the course, you begin working with technical diving equipment and learn to plan and execute dives using technical diving procedures. Particular attention is given to equipment configuration, gas planning, teamwork, problem solving and disciplined dive procedures.
Tec 40 provides the foundation for continuing your technical diving education. Divers who want to progress further can continue with PADI Tec 45 and ultimately PADI Tec 50.
The course combines structured PADI training with practical experience in Moalboal’s diving environment.
The PADI Tec 40 course includes seven knowledge development segments, four practical applications and four training dives. Training progresses from equipment preparation and technical diving procedures to dive planning, gas management and simulated or limited decompression diving.
Course Requirements
- Minimum age: 18
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or qualifying certification
- PADI Enriched Air Diver or qualifying certification
- PADI Deep Diver or proof of 10 dives to 30 m / 100 ft or deeper
- Minimum 30 logged dives
- PADI Rescue Diver is highly recommended
- Medical clearance: Completion of the required PADI Diver Medical screening; physician approval where required.
PADI Tec 40 Certification – What You Can Do
PADI Tec 40 introduces you to technical decompression diving and qualifies you to plan and conduct limited decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40 m / 130 ft, using a single decompression gas containing up to 50% oxygen.
Decompression is limited to 10 minutes when using a decompression gas or 15 minutes when breathing bottom gas throughout the dive.
READY TO START YOUR TEC TRAINING?
PADI Tec 45
PADI Tec 45 builds on the foundation developed during Tec 40 and takes your technical diving skills, planning and dive execution to the next level.
The course develops your ability to manage more complex technical dives while refining equipment handling, gas planning, teamwork and problem-solving skills. You continue developing the disciplined procedures and decision-making required for technical diving.
Tec 45 is the next step for divers progressing through the PADI Tec pathway and prepares you to continue toward PADI Tec 50.
Training in Moalboal allows these skills to be developed in a diving environment with convenient access to deeper water and wall-diving sites.
The PADI Tec 45 course includes seven knowledge development segments, four practical applications and four training dives. Training focuses on advanced dive planning, technical equipment configuration, gas management, emergency procedures and decompression diving.
Course Requirements
- Minimum age: 18
- PADI Tec 40 Diver or qualifying certification
- PADI Rescue Diver or qualifying certification. If using a qualifying certification, proof of CPR and First Aid training within the previous two years is required.
- Minimum 50 logged dives
